places we love

Forget Instagram. Watch this video: France 2012 A moment in time

Back in September this year we took a trip to France.

It seems like a decade ago.

While we were there we posted an entry which offered our view on the normal (lifestyle) that the French experience and how different it is from how we live and experience life here in North America. Just this past weekend we relived the experience with some friends who, incidentally, offered us their beautiful house in the south of France as a home base.

They optimize the beauty that is French culture.

As is customary we took way, way, way too many photos to commemorate the trip many of which were posted on Instagram as we went. You can search us there to see some of those moments in time. Just look for @rdopping or @ljgrossmann to find us. Make us your friends there while you are at it so we can share our experiences [neuroses] with you as is customary on that platform.

Forget Instagram! Watch this video.

If you are not on Instagram or don’t want to spend the time searching through a bunch of pictures of food, a cat, a dog and funny images of life’s occurrences then we encourage you to watch the video below. It’s only 3:43 and gives you a sense of what the experience of visiting France was like for us. Remember to turn your speakers on so you can hear the soundtrack accompanying the images and video.

Enjoy!

These videos are easy to do and are a great way to remember a moment in time. If you wan to see what else we have done you can click here to see our You Tube channel.

Let us know what you think.

Cheers!

Sweet! But you know, France is for you rich Canadians. We poor Americans must do with Hawaii. <sigh>

Also: Apple iMovie is about as easy as you can get. Well worth playing around with. Even in iPhoto, you can put together a bunch of photos and instantly create a beautiful little slideshow movie.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I especially love the "love" grafitti shot, the Hong Phuc (hmmmm) restaurant sign and the rusty pails photo. I like them all, but those 3 stand out for me. And you say the video is easy to do? How about a tutorial? Cheers! Kaarina

Cheers Tim @timbo1973 good to see you here! It has been a while since I visited you. Must make a point to do that. We had a great time. I haven't been across the pond in 20 years so we made the most of it. Switzerland will always have a place in my heart. I spent 2 years of my formative years working in Zurich and travelling through Europe. Nothing but fond memories. And hey, @late_bloomers lives there so it can't be all bad, can it?

Cheers!

@barrettrossie Hawaii huh? Maybe that's a proximity thing. If I lived in Vancouver Hawaii would certainly be on my list. If I want warmth I have to put up with Jamaica and the rest of the caribbean. It sucks to be Canadian, you know?

Never been an apple fan. There's always a bad one in the bunch.

@KDillabough That's what I was hoping for. A tutorial. I use windows movie maker (same for my Read This Stuff! videos) which I would be happy to chat to you about. I think Apple has an equivalent but I don't know how it works.

I also have another piece of software that allows overlays on video which i will be trying for my next book review. Anywhoo, thanks for the good vibes. Cheers!

@rdopping Let's Skype sometime: I'd love to learn more, and of course, catch up face to face (or screen to screen, haha!)
